During two weeks of work experience at the records department of the Boots Headquarters in Nottingham, I undertook a wide range of tasks related with the archival profession such as transcribing memories from former Boots employees and creating a putting data from documents into a database. This experience developed my IT skills, enhanced my knowledge of the archival profession and gave me experience of working in a large corporate environment.

This involved helping students in a teaching environment from a range of age groups to develop and improve their English skills. I have had to use good teamwork and communication skills with my teachers to plan our lessons. Also, I have had to show cultural and global awareness and adaptability to adapt to living in a country with a different culture to my own. I am also developing effective communication and linguistic skills through learning Spanish.

I worked at an NGO with an international group of volunteers, giving activities to children from disadvantaged backgrounds to develop a range of skills including teamwork, creativity and leadership.

I volunteered in a school, helping children to make lego models. This has enhanced my communication skills and interacting with and engaging children. In my second year, I was a project leader, which involved making sure the sessions ran smoothly through effective coordination.

During a week of work experience, I performed a variety of tasks such as making a database on Microsoft Excel, learning about the roles of various members of staff and performing Archival tasks such as conservation and cataloguing.

My role was helping customers with queries and general duties as required.

This invovled helping families with activity backpacks at Nottingham Castle and Wollaton Park. This experience was very enjoyable and rewarding as it developed my communication skills with the public and my teamwork skills.

In this role I assisted the company with office relocation, lifting and carrying equipment to new premises.

West Bridgford, Nottingham

I worked every Saturday and extra days during holidays. My role involved serving and helping customers, useing the till, and general tidying and sorting of stock in the back storeroom.
