I believe we are on this planet to help others.Our role is to leave the world a brighter place than we found it — or at least to keep the lights on for those who follow.Employment, education, and entrepreneurship are useful means to help others. Financial reward is similarly a useful catalyst and incentive to help others. Our challenge, both individually and as a society, is to keep these means and forces aligned with altruism, rather than working against it or in parallel.I am agnostic on the best means of helping others. The idea of effective altruism via a professional career speaks strongly to me, but so do stories of selfless austerity and volunteering. I am open to many pathways; I cannot, in good conscience, write a biography pigeonholing myself just to seem a perfect fit for a potential employer.Here is what I do know:🌿 I love to help, and enjoy working with others.🌿 I especially love negotiation, multi-disciplinary tasks, and building systems.🌿 I produce, and pride myself on, excellent quality work.🌿 I enjoy training others and synthesising useful information for them.🌿 I am protective of my values, my soulfulness, and my independence.🌿 I am conscious of mortality and leaving a positive legacy behind.🌿 I aspire to communicate more clearly, spend my time more wisely, and set better boundaries.🌿 I believe that 99% of people are fundamentally good, and all conflicts are resolvable.🌿 I deeply enjoy projects that allow me to demonstrate, pass on, and refine my values.🌿 I am proudest of projects where I had substantial creative and organisational autonomy.🌿 I am good at consistently recommitting to these principles, despite pressure or failure.🌿 I am exceptionally lucky to have so many wonderful people in my life — past and present.🌿 I have a strong resume, but I am not my resume.Aside from these ideals, I also enjoy mountaineering, chess, armwrestling, philosophy, and indie video games.
