I have many years' experience working as a veterinary surgeon in an animal welfare charity setting in India. I have been involved in the day to day work and management of a street dog and rabies control programme, and in the programme's monitoring and evaluation. I undertake a considerable amount of routine surgery. I am involved in the management of the charity. I have helped with the practical education, training and mentoring of a large number of veterinary students and younger veterinary colleagues.Together with colleagues I have undertaken research into the effects of the rabies control programme, and have published the results of this research. I have spoken about our work and its results at international rabies, veterinary and animal welfare conferences.I was awarded the Blackburn Award of the British Veterinary Association for my overseas welfare and One Health work. I was awarded the Fellowship of the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons (UK) for 'meritorious contribution to the profession' in 2017.
