The role of Senior Retoucher at Asos encompases a wide range of responsibilities. Day to day tasks include organising the daily workload for our team, ensuring that priorities are actioned quickly and dealing with specific requests and queries from other departments in the business. As part of this role I have five direct reports. Through bi-monthly meetings with my team I track their KPIs and help with their development, with a focus on achieving their goals before end of year reviews. This involves addressing any concerns with performance, offering direct training and to help structure projects for my team in order for them to meet their yearly objectives.Alongside my daily responsibilities I have learnt VBA coding, in order to streamline our workflow, reduce multiple repeated actions when organising the daily workload and to help with reporting on the team's output.

As a Middleweight Retoucher, I was responsible for the editing of product images before they are made live on the website. This required me to work to a daily target, while also being mindful of the level of edit required by our guidelines and to ensure any corrections we kept to a minimum. I was also responsible for actioning specific requests from the retail department, correcting the images for products with high return rates. This was mostly focused around ensuring colours were correct.

Initially an entry-level role, based around assisting the Head and Junior Photographers with their day-to-day tasks, during my time in this position I have developed the role and taken on a large number of additional tasks and responsibilities. These include, but are not limited to the following:• Retouching of all ecommerce photography, and initial retouching of creative marketing photography, which includes front, interior and model images for each option, and 360° photography for our premium brand. I have also been responsible for signing off creative imagery in my line manager’s absence.• Management of the studio’s sample sets for our three main brands, approximately 400 samples in total for each season.• Ensuring all images are formatted to the specifications of our various clients, and uploaded to a variety of different FTP servers (e.g. Filezilla and Microsoft Cloudberry).• Creating a variety of spreadsheets in Microsoft Excel used to keep track of the studio’s daily output.• Assisting the photographers with set building, sample preparation and other technical problem solving e.g. with lighting set ups.In addition to the responsibilities listed above, I have also been involved in the photography of samples for use on our websites, for which I received very positive feedback. I have also developed a variety of automated scripts that are used to batch process images for our clients’ specific formats, to streamline processes that would otherwise be overly time consuming. I also have experience working with video files, colour matching and management.
