Developing autonomous systems that communicate with natural language

As an early employee at Hullbot I was a core part of the startup journey and the development of 3 generations of robots. As the Vision Systems Lead I led the design and development of a synchronised multi-camera perception system that is optimised for robustness in low-light and turbid environments. This system is deployed daily on Hullbot's fleet of autonomous robots.As the Software Team Lead I drove the technical direction of Hullbot's robotics stack while managing, mentoring and hiring a growing team of Mechatronics and ML engineers. My responsibilities included:- Developing and deploying advanced autonomous capabilities to the field.- Road map and execution of the autonomous underwater vehicle stack.- Communicating progress to the executive team.- Scheduling, scoping and defining cross-team projects. - Implementing robust software development and deployment practices. During this time I also implemented and coordinated company wide efforts such as:- Introduction, implementation and management of the Scrum framework.- Central hiring database and process for cross team hiring.- Planning and organisation of fortnightly social events.- Management of company wide security practices.
