My 9 years of hospitality experience has taught me never to take things for granted, you never quite know who may walk through the door. I have worked from busser/bar back all the way to manager and at each level there are challenges that require new ways of thinking to overcome. I never initially went into hospitality work thinking I’d learn anything more than service standards; though the unofficial plumbing, electrical and manual labour that goes into running a venue simply comes with the job. I’m grateful for it, my situational judgement has improved just by putting my all into my work. I learnt many things through my time at Turtle Bay but a big one is just how different each city is and the peoples mannerism’s that live there. Being able to adapt to a new environment became key to my travelling around the other sites, working with the teams and their guests. I feel like my passion for people sprouted from my time working in the gym at 17, constantly meeting new faces and forming new relationships. My roll within the gym was a fitness instructor, I was there not only to support but to teach and train, this is why I feel I’ve stayed in a teaching/training roll for so long. I love getting involved and diving into a new problem. Deputy ManagerBierkeller Nottingham Nov 2022 - Sep 2024Nottingham, England, United KingdomMy time at Bierkeller has already seen some major progression points for me: - Solely responsible for currently cocktail and drinks menu; writing the recipes myself, calculating GP’s for each menu item, running training sessions across multiple sites for the menu rollout which took place in April and has so far been a success with an uptake in cocktail purchases! - Re-wrote the till operating system working closely with Predicttile (our POS).- I was hired after the previous GM was fired due to poor management and terrible book keeping, which lead to some difficulties within the site. I was brought in to bring the team back up to a high standard whilst finding connections and bonds that allowed each layer of team members to work with and not against each other. I did this by: - Running monthly supervisor meetings- Quarterly full team meetings- Training sessions with the whole team (whilst also making myself available for several hours a week if anyone wanted to come in and learn anything they didn’t know. - Reviews on all team members, collating feedback from all supervisors and managers, then making an action plan on how to improve scores. - Team bonding challenges and incentives. - Learning every roll within the building to gain the respect of the people I am trying to manage.

Bar ManagerTurtle Bay Restaurants Jan 2018 - Jan 2020Nottingham, England, United KingdomMy roll as a Bar manager in Nottingham was to look after:- Stocktaking and rotation (F.I.F.O) - Orders.- Full team training.- Bi-weekly team training sessions for both floor and bar staff. - Monthly spec testing for the team - Making sure the bar was Clean, Tidy and Organised (C.T.O) - Preparing and reviewing weekly mystery diners.- Going to other sites and training flair, free pouring and company standards. -
Fitness InstructorGym4All Jan 2016 - Jun 2017Nottingham, England, United KingdomMy roll as a fitness instructor was to run classes during the week, making sure everyone’s energy was high and tracking clients performance throughout the workout. Any areas of focus I found I would summarise for them at the end of the class in a short 5-10 minute handover where needed. I would also be responsible for opening and closing the venue, whilst making sure the gym looked clean, tidy and organised. Adding new members to our system was another job I had; this being one reason it was so important for the gym to look its best at all times, any tours needed had to draw the clients in, along with some great customer service of course. -
BartenderDog House Jun 2016 - Apr 2017Nottingham, England, United KingdomMy time at the Dog House taught me the values of a local pub, making sure local people who have been drinking at the venue for years are appreciated. The bar also had a 200 capacity live music room, so I was able to deal with the busy and the quiet times all whilst training here.
