I was responsible for the day-to-day maintenance and administration of the Council’s Freedom of Information Requests and Environmental Information Requests.Additionally, I assisted with the Council’s Data Protection work, including processing and responding to data rights requests made under GDPR. In this capacity, I provided bespoke and accurate advice to client on their obligations under the Data Protection legislation and researched when the Council was able to rely on an exemption to disclosure, demonstrating my ability to research and apply the relevant law. I was also given the opportunity to engage with small scale Planning and Commercial Property tasks including the drafting of Lawful Development Certificates and scheduling of evidence. I also advocated for the Council alongside the Deputy Data Protection Officer at the quarterly Hampshire and Isle of Wight Local Authority Meeting on Data Protection and Freedom of Information, where I engaged in discussions about trends in requests sent to local authorities in Hampshire. This demonstrates that I can actively participate in group discussions and public speaking.
