Fort Grey is a historic museum located within an early 19th-century Martello tower. As the sole staff member on site during my shifts, I was responsible not only for assisting visitors and providing information about the exhibits but also for ensuring the security and preservation of the site and its collections. This included monitoring the museum's galleries, maintaining a welcoming environment, and delivering engaging educational experiences to visitors. I also handled general administrative duties and ensured the smooth operation of the museum in the absence of additional staff. My role required a high level of responsibility and attention to detail, as I was entrusted with the protection of valuable artifacts and the safety of the premises.

Manor Farm Foods is Guernsey’s largest commercial food delivery service, serving hotels, restaurants, care homes, offices, and the public. The company also offered a home delivery service, which grew significantly during the island's lockdown, classifying the team as key workers.I managed both commercial and public deliveries, balancing tasks based on demand. The product range included fresh and frozen produce, dairy, meat, and fish, with drivers responsible for maintaining proper conditions. Deliveries often needed to be made within specific timeframes, and I regularly coordinated with local harbor authorities for inter-island shipments. Trusted with access to various properties and locations, I navigated Guernsey’s challenging roads, balancing tight schedules and the condition of goods with patience and safety. My time at Manor Farm Foods sharpened my problem-solving and time management skills, and I take pride in the role I played.

I worked with Orgeris Organics, a small, local farm committed to 100% organic and sustainable growing practices. My responsibilities included harvesting and processing produce, weeding, watering, planting, and sowing, as well as general gardening duties. Over time, I gained increased autonomy and trust in managing daily tasks, contributing to the team’s efficiency during the busy summer months. The role allowed me to develop practical skills in organic farming while supporting the growth of the business.

Alderney, Guernsey

Alderney Essential Oils operated a field on Alderney, where I contributed to various aspects of the farming and production process. During the early season, our priority was getting the plants in the ground, leading to long hours of work—often twelve-hour days, seven days a week. As the season progressed, our responsibilities shifted to caring for the plants, which were exposed to challenging weather conditions. I played a key role in protecting the plants by improvising splints and wind blocks to shield them from the elements.Throughout my time on Alderney, I developed practical skills such as setting up and maintaining an irrigation system, managing a generator, and gaining insight into project management. Working closely with the manager, I learned valuable lessons in resource management and communication, especially in dealing with remote supervision. Although the work was often demanding and the weather unpredictable, I left with both new skills and a deep sense of accomplishment.

I gained valuable experience in customer service, conflict resolution, and teamwork, often handling challenging situations with a calm and authoritative approach. My role also provided insight into the operational aspects of managing a temporary project, where I developed problem-solving skills and learned from my manager’s experience in overseeing a high-demand seasonal operation.
