I got my start in eCommerce with my first brand. I was a broke university student, and I made a really good product. I thought I had something special, I liked it! But I wasn't sure if other people would too, and would they pay for it?So I took a risk, I put $1,000 that I'd saved up from my part-time bar job into ads on Facebook, and I was lucky enough to get about $10,000 back.Then I put that $10,000 back in, which was hard. I finally had some money, I could buy some new clothes and take my girlfriend out to a restaurant, but I decided to put it all back into ads, and suddenly from one week to the next I had a business. I hired my first team. Hundreds of thousands of people started to watch my videos on YouTube (and Facebook). I started getting mean comments, and I had to toughen up a little, and be more brave. I started going live, and my first live stream brought ~5,000 people to my little corner of the internet, some of them left mean comments too!Then I had superfans, the type of customer that bought all of our products the first day they came out, that wrote essays about how much our products had helped them and that started investing their time into my dream. People flew from Germany, Australia and Canada to come see me and hang out, I had started my new part time job as a tour guide!Now, I work exclusively with founders that create products that solve real problems and improve their customers lives.I spend my days with my friends, and we're all winning. Virtually high fiving in Zoom calls. I'm grateful and fortunate to be surrounded by brave and industrious founders that are ruthlessly determined to maximize the good we're putting out into the world, and I think we're doing a pretty good job.
