Teach Use of Force law and policy to Deputy Sheriffs. Serve on Selection Process Oral Boards at Dauphin County Sheriff’s Office.

Exercise command and operational authority of Sergeants, Corporals, and Deputy Sheriffs headquartered at the Dauphin County Courthouse. Oversee Sheriff's Department functions, investigations and operations. Institute procedures to properly plan, direct, control and coordinate the operations of the Department, including the street service of civil process and bench warrants. Develop and implement Sheriff's Department operational policies and procedures. Handle internal investigations by reviewing cases of alleged misconduct and initiating corrective and/or disciplinary action when warranted. Establish communications and liaison with other Dauphin County Departments, Row Officers, and Judges. Work with federal, local, and state officials, and other law enforcement agencies in Dauphin County. Prepare operational plans and personally assume incident command responsibilities for major events and trials held at the Dauphin County Courthouse.

Responsible for development, and direction of the Pennsylvania State Police traffic safety and enforcement programs, including coordination of the department’s driving under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs program; criminal highway interdiction program; radar and speed enforcement program; vehicle fraud investigation program; collision analysis and reconstruction program; child seat/safety belt education and enforcement program; mobile video/audio recorder program; and grant program administration. Coordinate and direct the Pennsylvania State Police motor carrier safety and enforcement program including the management of $6 million in annual grant funding from the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration.

Exercise command authority of more than 400 total personnel in Troop H and all Troop functions, investigations and operations. Institute procedures to properly plan, direct, control and coordinate the operations of the Troop, which includes 7 separate barracks and encompasses 6 counties in Central Pennsylvania. Develop and implement the Troop budget and issue Troop directives for the purpose of implementing department policies. Handle internal investigations by reviewing cases of alleged misconduct and initiate corrective and/or disciplinary action when warranted. Establish communications and liaison with local, county and state officials, including state and federal legislators, within the Troop area of responsibility.

Exercise statewide command authority for investigations into the illegal distribution, sale and use of drugs. Direct, coordinate and supervise the activities of Region Strike Forces and Tactical Narcotic Teams comprised of more than 120 undercover drug investigators. Coordinate the Pennsylvania State Police Drug Interdiction and Statewide Marijuana Eradication programs. Work closely with County District Attorneys, the Pennsylvania Office of Attorney General, Drug Enforcement Administration, Federal Bureau of Investigation and the United States Attorneys Office in conducting high-level, multi-agency drug investigations.

Conduct, control and supervise the assignment and completion of investigations into allegations of misconduct by Pennsylvania State Police personnel. Conduct and supervise investigations into the use of physical force or shooting incidents involving Pennsylvania State Police members.
