I'm specifically involved with setting up scanning electrochemical microscopy equipment at Lancaster University, in order to observe the processes occurring at the surface of battery anode materials. • Masters research project on the synthesis of Ni, Co and Mn containing transition metal layered oxide cathode materials of varying Ni content for Lithium ion batteries.
• Self-directing a research project has taught long term planning and organisation skills.
• Gained experience in the use of I11, the powder x-ray diffraction beamline at Diamond.
• Trained to safely assemble and dismantle coin cell batteries in an argon filled glovebox.
• Used X-ray diffraction SEM and electrochemical cycling to characterise synthesised cathode materials
• Attended multiple beamline experiments including experiments carried out at the Australian Synchrotron.

Green Chemistry Centre Of Excellence

• Undertook a Royal Society of Chemistry funded 8 week summer research project at the Green chemistry centre of excellence. The project involved producing a library of polyesters using various straight chain and methyl.
• Gained experience in the use of a Schlenk line to perform polymerisations under high vacuum as well as to run reactions under argon.
• Analysis of produced polyesters using NMR, GPC, DSC, TGA and mechanical strength testing.
• Purification of diethyl esters and diols for use in polymerisations using flash column chromatography and recrystallization.
