About Jack Garland

A Trainee Clinical Scientist at NHS University Hospitals of Liverpool Group, studying MSc Clinical Scientific Computing & Data Science (Clinical Informatics) at The University of Manchester as part of my training.Whilst studying for my Bachelor's degree, I discovered that I had a true passion for healthcare-oriented Computer Science, and that a career in the healthcare sector was something that I needed to pursue.I have previously worked as a Pharmacy IT Lead for Herefordshire and Worcestershire Health and Care NHS Trust, providing overall management of where pharmacy and technology meet, and ensuring that the Trust's patients were receiving the healthcare that they deserve. I had experience working within the Trust, as well as with external providers, to ensure that all systems were managed appropriately and that each team was given the facilities they needed to carry out their daily duties. The primary goal was to help those within the local community and provide them with the best care that we had to offer.I began my career (both as a graduate and in the NHS) working as an IT Officer in General Practice. In this role I worked with a partnered GP surgery as well as the Primary Care Network that we were managed under to provide any necessary IT facilities for our patient population. I was lucky enough to play a major role in the COVID-19 vaccination programme within my practice as part of this role, and this is what solidified my desire to pursue a career in the healthcare sector.
