I was offered a job in the volunteer office as the lead Volunteer Coordinator when my AmeriCorps term of service ended. In my position I continued updating policies that I had created in the last year, improved our relationships with our partners by scheduling bi-annually meetings, and facilitated 3 more capacity building workshops for our Friends of Parks Groups. I have improved our volunteer data reporting in Recreation Centers and Friends of Parks groups by implementing monthly e-mails and monthly newsletters with a new online reporting system. I organize volunteer projects for corporate groups and other organizations for almost every weekend from late March to mid-November. So far I have worked with organizations such as Volunteering Untapped, Comcast, Coca Cola, Friends School, and Jewish Volunteer Connection.I also serve on our $5-5K committee where I help organize volunteers, secure donations, and help race days run smoothly.

A year of service where I learned the basics of volunteer management and dove head first into managing volunteers. I began a monthly trail/park clean up along 3 of the major trails in Baltimore in partnership with the different Friends of Parks groups. I also created documents and procedures to help streamline the volunteer office. Such documents include Volunteer Positions Descriptions for the department, a new volunteer waiver, a new volunteer informational video, and a monthly Friends of Parks newsletter to solidify our relationships. I also conducted 3 workshops for our park volunteers to help improve their capacity of leading volunteers. I helped organize volunteer data, averaging about 60,000 volunteer hours and 17,000 volunteers , for our annual report. I submitted data for Baltimore City Recreation and Parks to become a CAPRA accredited organization. I helped organize projects for groups such as Comcast, Coca Cola, the Friends School, and T.Rowe Price.

Project Outreach Liaison - Responsible for finding potential sponsors (non-profit organizations, government agencies, etc.), finding Independent Service Projects (ISP) for my team, and planning 2 community service days. Recruiter - Responsible for going into the community and spreading awareness about Americorps NCCC through formal (career fairs, school presentations) and informal (elevator speech) meetings. Media Representative - Responsible for getting media attention during projects. Round 1 Project: Loaves and Fishes in Sacramento California. I worked in Maryhouse which is the women's shelter within Loaves and Fishes. I help prep and serve breakfast in the morning and spend the majority of my day inventorying donations that come in and keeping the dispensary stocked.Round 2 Project: Camp Sealth on Vashon Island, WA. Also serving as assistant team leader. We worked on over 25 miles of trail doing various clearing and maintenance, built .25 miles of trails, built a storage unit, and uninstalled, cleaned, and re-installed over 100 feet of boating docks. Received Corps Member of the Round for my team this round. Round 3 Project: Lakeside River Park Conservancy (LRPC) in Lakeside, CA. Served mostly with LRPC, but also with Silverwood Wildlife Sanctuary and Blue Sky Ranch once a week. At LRPC we did invasive control, demolition on an old building, building and installing irrigation systems, and many other miscellaneous projects. With Silverwood and Blue Sky we focused mainly on invasive species control. This round was 8 weeks long and we were camping the entire time. Round 4 Project: Camp Harmon, Boulder Creek, CA. For our last round project, we served as camp counselors at Camp Harmon, a camp for children and adults with disabilities.
