As the Public Relations Director at The Children’s Hospital in Denver, I had the opportunity to promote the nationally-ranked pediatric hospital. My staff and I managed all internal, external, board of director and internal communications. In addition, we worked closely with The Children's Hospital Foundation and its board of directors to help establish messaging and prioritize media needs. In addition, we assisted in the promotion of the extensive department of volunteers. Along with promoting the hospital, we worked with an array of individuals who all needed to communicate with an enormously diverse audience. We worked tirelessly to help the public sympathize with sick children, empathize with the plight of the uninsured, and appreciate the caliber of talent at The Children’s Hospital, all of which helped and translated into record contributions and consistent local and national media hits for the non-profit institution. While working on all things external, we were also working strategically behind the scenes to mitigate potentially damaging stories that were brewing or that had hit the media.
