Creating presentations and pitch documents.

My experience in the creative industry began as an artworker, and I achieved the position of Production Manager at Citigate Publishing before leaving London in 2001. I relocated back to my home city of Liverpool as a freelance artworker, designer, editor and photographer, utilising a career-full of creative, planning and management skills.Some solutions I have successfully delivered during my career include:- Design and artwork on a variety of publications and marketing materials within brand guidelines and editorial house style. Updated brand guidelines as needed.- Worked closely with other team members including designers, copywriters, account managers and art directors.- Managed schedules and budgets for print and online products including press pass, print sign-off and post-production evaluation procedures, to ensure consistent quality.- Liaised with internal and external clients and suppliers to ensure complete satisfaction with both the product and the process.- Communicated at all levels, from clients, to team members, and from senior civil servants to suppliers.Throughout my career I have worked in a variety of different settings:- Five years with award winning creative agency Dewe Rogerson (later Citigate) in London, I worked with journalists, designers and account managers on a range of corporate work. As Production manager I liaised directly with the Art Director and Managing Director on preparing bids. - A seven year stint with the Health and Safety Executive gave me invaluable experience of working within a large public sector organisation. Here I got to combine work on large multi-channel campaigns with simple one-off projects, including the creation of HSE's full catalogue of publications for publication online within a very tight deadline and with exacting specifications.

A one year contract editing HSE's safety guidance.

Hired to keep the internal Graphic Design resource running during a busy period with staff shortages. I organised my own schedule and workload, liaised on deadlines with Fire Officers and the rest of the Communications team, while producing everything from banners and vehicle wraps to annual reports and flyers as well as creating full campaigns and interior design solutions.

Worked with Cavendish Flour Partnership to prepare a bid to be presented to the NDA for a Decommissioning contract. On Monday 31 March 2014, Cavendish Flour were announced as the preferred bidder. http://uk.reuters.com/article/2014/04/01/uk-britain-nuclear-contract-idUKBREA2U0GS20140401I successfully designed the InDesign Templates for use in the bid and generally got involved in whatever was required to ensure that quality Bid documentation was presented on time. Duties included: Setting and amending templates containing large, multi-style tables using grep styles, object styles and table styles. Laying out bid documents ranging from 10 to 50 pages. Organizing own and two other artworkers workload to ensure documents continually moved to next level of editing, review and approvals.

Park Group provide Christmas hampers and schemes to help customers budget for Christmas. Each year they publish a range of catalogues showcasing the products for sale, together with a range of other marketing materials and stationery items for Agents. During this short contract I helped prepare a range of materials within a team of seven designers, artworkers and copy-editors. Successfully laid out numerous pages for three different catalogues, prepared and updated stationery materials, agents' magazines and Love to Shop gift card packs. All work completed by deadline.

I helped out at Halesway, preparing a publication of case studies for one of their Pharmaceutical clients. Role involved: laying out case studies to standard grid using existing style sheets and applying Grep styles; using Grep to update repeat information; taking in amends producing final pdfs for approvals.

I have had over six years' regular freelance work with HSE. My main projects with HSE have been:- Advising on the publication of all of their 200-or-so priced publications online in an accessible pdf format. Liaising with other external suppliers to ensure the project was completed on time. Training the external suppliers and in-house staff to produce InDesign documents in the most efficient way for export to tagged and properly structured pdf. Including research into the latest technology and information available to perform the task to the highest possible standards, and helping HSE's webteam to achieve an AbilityNet Accreditation Plus award for the standard of the HSE website. http://www.abilitynet.org.uk/certificate/HSE/- Editing and designing large information projects such as COSHH Essentials and Asbestos Essentials.- Producing the HSE Books Catalogue for the last four years.

I began with DRCP as a Mac Artworker, carrying out fast, eye-catching layouts and amends on a variety of publications. Role required an eye for detail and a desire to work within a close-knit team. Promotion options were limited so I took a year at Gee Publishing and was head-hunted back as Studio Manager and later promoted to Production Manager.As Production Manager I was the central point of contact between in-house studio, editorial staff, clients and external suppliers. I improved quality controls, trained staff and used regular site visits to keep repro, and print suppliers on their toes. I took most client-handled distribution in-house to improve delivery times and accuracy. I also set up new server systems to increase workflow between departments and trained all staff to use the new system.
