I have worked in estate agency since the age of 16. Having started as a YTS, I was offered full time employment within 3 months. I worked my way through the ranks and gained experience from clerical assistant to becoming Branch Manager by the age of 18. I then chose to expand my experience in a different field and spent 6 very successful years in new homes sales as Senior Sales Executive, winning annual Sales Executive of the Year Awards. My former employer tried to tempt me to return several times and after creating the ideal position for me I returned to estate agency whereby I went on to manage what became the company's top branch in the UK. Headhunted by my present firm, I accepted this current position 16 years ago. This was a challenge as my base branch at that time held a stock of only 9 properties but through hard work, recruitment, training and a lot of PR we have built this into what is recognised as the professional, top market leader in the area. As well as our chain having won annual National Estate Agency awards for customer service (ESTA'S) my base branch have won this coveted award for two consecutive years for the best Estate Agency branch in Scotland. Hopefully a third tomorrow when this ceremony takes place in London, hosted by Phil Spencer. Watch this space! ** Update: We won again! 3rd year in a row! Wow!!! Absolutely delighted for my team and I! I have completed many courses and modules within my field including the Senior Management Development Programme which was very tough but rewarding! I have also won Top Negotiator in the company twice in the last three years.I believe that having the right people on board and a great working enviroment is vital to any business. Respect which has been earned, fairness, trust and clear leadership values are so important to run a successful business.
