Google Cloud Performance TeamDeveloping and maintaining a project that is performing a long-term study of cloud compute resource obtainability and provisioning performance. My work involves enhancing the VM provisioning flow by contributing to the open source PerfKitBenchmarker cluster boot benchmark, and managing the project's infrastructure by configuring Terraform environments. I additionally work on the data reporting for the project through implementing and enhancing GoogleSQL data processing scripts and deploying templated dashboards.

Worked along with the GO Team to oversee Space Apps main stage in Huntsville. Answered questions from teams participating in the three challenges I designed for the competition. Worked as a global judge to help select winners for each of my three challenges in the 2019 competition.Served as Space Apps Ambassador for the Space Apps COVID-19 challenge in June 2020 along with the following three annual Space Apps challenges from 2020-2022. This role involved working with subject matter experts in order to assist competitors through answering questions and locating useful data or resources. As an ambassador, I additionally served as a global judge for each of these competitions.

Supported development of a REST API warehouse management application. Performed research to select an ideal REST API framework, FastAPI, for the application based on documentation and efficiency constraints. Completed backend development for the warehouse orders model, supporting logic for performing queries and other manipulations of warehouse orders. Implemented or improved proper test coverage for several different endpoints. Enhanced endpoint security through the addition of FastAPI user authentication to all endpoints.Implemented pre-commit configuration for the project repository to automatically lint all committed project files using flake8 to enforce style constraints, preventing commits when errors are present. Transitioned the GitLab continuous integration file for the project to a GitHub Actions CI configuration.

Designed data quality validation tool to support MITRE FAA contractors working with the updated version of the Transportation Data Platform (TDP). The validation tool works to identify upstream data quality issues caused by the update through analyzing every data point from a given database and date range, and outputting changes in data quality in the form of field name/type changes as well as statistical changes. Developed tool for creating an organized database of runway closure information from Notices to Airmen (Notams) data, containing data flags to highlight recurring issues and improve readability. Designed topic modeling tool for data from NASA’s Aviation Safety Reporting System (ASRS). The tool was designed to display top topics from the ASRS in order to provide insight into data trends. Worked with separate MITRE team to support deployment of their web page usability tool. Created demos and examples outlining ideas for setting up a continuous integration tool through GitLab that would allow the team's client's to run their web page through the usability software and run the output on the client's custom test cases in order to assess the usability features of their web page.Worked to complete database joining of Traffic Collision Avoidance System (TCAS) data with major TDP data. Focused on several different possibilities for linking databases in order to maximize match rate for a given set of TCAS records. Performed cost/benefit analysis of the various database joins through analyzing increased computer resource usage in relation to increasing the TCAS match rate.

Designed the infrastructure for a random forest regression machine learning model to improve predictions for the GEOS Composition Forecasing (GEOS-CF) air quality forecasting model managed by the Global Modeling and Assimilation Office (GMAO. Software was designed to train the regression algorithm through comparing past forecasts with the weather station data from the matching location and timestamp in order to analyze errors in past predictions and decrease error in future forecasting.Designed data restructuring and visualization software for oceanic depth profile data which allowed users to provide desired data inputs and generate customized output files and visualizations.Developed write-ups and located pertinent NASA remote sensing data for three different challenges that were a part of NASA’s 2019 International Space Apps Challenge. Two of these challenges received the most entries among all challenges in the competition.

Studied remote sensing and satellite data analytics with NASA and NOAA scientists working on the Joint Polar Satellite System (JPSS) missions. Presented research on JPSS spacecraft sensors and data integration methods used for solving global issues to a panel of NASA scientists at both Headquarters and Goddard Space Flight Center.

Worked a few weeks for camps each summer. Maintained habitats and cared for native animals housed in the nature center. Supported park naturalists and maintenance workers with the preservation of hiking trails, invasive plant removal, and studies of native organisms. Helped to guide campers through various conservative activities, along with leading educational discussions and assisting on field trips.
