About Jacklyn Yong
After a post-doctoral stint, I have decided to pursue a career in the industry rather than in the academia. My background in molecular and cell biology was very helpful in kickstarting my career as a field application specialist. I enjoy being able to discuss the technicalities and intricacies of science in an operational lab setting. When I was introduced to next generation sequencing, I was introduced to a whole new world of genomics. And I started to build my career around genomics.Being in the genomics field requires staying current in the evolution of the technology and constantly expanding my knowledge base of genomics and its applications (past, current and future). The application of genomics in human populations to improve human healthcare and outcomes is an area that I am deeply interested in. I am proud to be part of several large/national population genomics programs. My strong technical background in molecular biology/genomics is definitely appreciated in conversations with scientists and researchers, and instrumental in driving deeper conversations. Being able to apply my knowledge with commercial insights definitely gives me an edge in enhancing customer experience. With proven ability to work effectively and productively with multiple responsibilities, and with strong project management skills, I am looking forward to powering and enabling large/national genomic projects, and contribute to making the Precision Medicine dream come true!
