• Conducted failure analysis on thermoelectric coolers (TEC) by using a scanning electron microscope to observe cracking and investigate TEC interfaces. Created a benchmark for microstructural changes before and after power cycling.• Analyzed competitive TECs to compare against internal products. Determined industry benchmarks to set course for improvements.• Developed a test matrix to experimentally determine the effects of heat treatment (HT) on TEC shear strength. Shear data was analyzed by observing the fracture surface and its composition. Used Weibull statistics to interpret the brittle fractures and understand HT effects on mechanical failure.
