Currently the Head of Local Zero Waste Implementation at Zero Waste Europe, based in Brussels.Zero Waste Europe’s latest strategic framework, 2021-2024, is built around three key pillars: movement building, enabling conditions and the implementation of zero waste solutions. This third pillar, focusing on implementation at the local level, combines our work with cities and businesses by providing more resources, capacity and finance to accelerate local level change towards a zero waste society. It is my role to coordinate this work, helping our network of nearly 500 cities and a growing number of partner businesses to implement more effective zero waste strategies, at a quicker pace. We are also creating new financial models to help connect local actors with greater opportunities to accessible finance for zero waste infrastructure. Previously I was the Zero Waste Cities Programme Coordinator for Zero Waste Europe. I was responsible for coordinating the work of members at the local level, helping municipalities adopt zero waste strategies across Europe.Currently also a Board member of the Zero Waste International Alliance.Previously worked for Cruelty Free International as their Public Affairs Advisor. . I was responsible for all global advocacy as well as responding to European and British public affairs, including the monitoring of Brexit legislation, securing British MP's support for the campaign and lobbying UN missions and national Governments to sponsor a UNGA resolution that will ban cosmetics animal testing worldwide.Previously was at Restless Development as the Advocacy & Networks Coordinator. Was responsible for fostering key relationships with influential organisations, including the United Nations, where Restless Development is an organising partner for the Major Group for Children & Youth, but also includes UNDP, UNFPA, UN DESA, DFID and the World Bank. I devised and implemented organisational-wide advocacy strategies for global conferences, including the 2016 and 2017 UN General Assembly and the first ever World Humanitarian Summit, the 2017 HLPF, 2016 OGP Summit and many others.Previous role at Restless Development was the Network Support Officer role, building the confidence, skills and knowledge of young people in the UK to lead change themselves. I was responsible for all communications to an UK audience, including a weekly mailing list of over 2100 contacts and three social media channels. I supported on creating campaign strategies and policies, copywriting pieces for both the media and parliamentarians.
