About Jack Ryan Ruotolo
My passion for bridge-building began in high school when I founded a debate club to foster connection in a divided rural community. These formative years for me sparked a lifelong dedication to promoting inclusivity and understanding through dialogue, a commitment deeply informed by my personal experiences navigating identity and isolation as a queer individual.During my time at the University of Pittsburgh, where I graduated with Honors in Politics and Philosophy, I led the BridgePittsburgh chapter from its inception. My academic and extracurricular experiences, including a pivotal role in a polarization study and as an Elsie Hillman Civic Engagement intern, deepened my commitment to enhancing civic dialogue. Under my leadership, BridgePittsburgh grew from a dormant pandemic group to the campus's most impactful political club, significantly influencing the university's culture. As a Chapter Development Consultant at BridgeUSA, I helped other chapters maximize their impact, promoting a network of constructive dialogue initiatives.Currently, as BridgeUSA's Learning and Development Manager, I'm spearheading an initiative to broaden the reach of our dialogue and facilitation programs, collaborating with diverse clients like educational institutions and the Obama Foundation. As I transition towards a legal career, my focus is on developing legal frameworks that support open discourse and bolster democratic processes. I look forward to connecting and exploring how we can foster a more inclusive and understanding society together.

Learning And Development Manager
After graduating from university in April 2024, I joined BridgeUSA full-time in June 2024 as our Learning and Development Manager. Having experience leading a chapter for two years, and consulting other chapters part-time, I now lend my expertise in this field to a new program of BridgeUSA that expands our proven method of dialogue and discourse to other institutions. In this role, I have been spearheading our entire training and workshop program, designing the curriculum, and delivering workshops to various partners, including universities, high schools, and other nonprofits such as the Obama Foundation. My leadership in this space has also garnered speaking opportunities and various other opportunities in the bridging space to enhance my skills and dedication for this work.
Chapter Growth & Development Consultant
Using my experience and success as the president of the Pittsburgh chapter of BridgeUSA to help develop and consult a portfolio of chapters across the nations. BridgeUSA is a youth-led democracy movement that seeks to bridge partisan divides through civic discourse on college campuses and in local communities. As a BridgeUSA Chapter Development Consultant, I meet with chapter presidents on a regular basis (and act as their main point of contact with the national organization) to help them develop their own chapters and help drive them to success. The areas I consult upon with chapters are organization internal structure, marketing, finance, internal and external outreach, operations, leadership development, event planning, attendance gathering, and university relationships. Some of my chapter assignments include UCLA, Emory, Georgia State University, and Northwestern University, among others.
President And Board Member
President (July 2021) and Board Member (March 2021) of the Pittsburgh chapter of BridgeUSA. Working to bridge the partisan divide by fostering an open and honest political dialogue that values people over partisanship. Established working partnerships with the Pitt Institute of Politics, chaired by Pitt’s Chancellor Emeritus, and the Center for Governance and Markets within the Graduate School for Public and International Affairs. In March of 2023, BridgePittsburgh organized, hosted, and moderated a debate between the Pitt College Republicans and Pitt College Republicans which had an in-person attendance of over 300 students, with over 2,000 views on our live stream. I consider my tenure leading this club my life's greatest accomplishment thus far, and I am proud to know how our mission of reducing division impacted thousands of students on campus and in the Pittsburgh community.
