I've always loved sports. I grew up playing football and baseball, and have followed just about every sport covered by ESPN since I was 5 years old. Growing up, I thought, if I'm not a professional athlete, then at least ill be a coach or sports analyst. Over the years of playing sports I developed an array of skills. I learned how to work on a team, how to work hard, understanding what it meant to make a commitment to a group and how to hold myself and others accountable to making the team the best it could be. I developed leadership skills as well, becoming the captain of our high school football team.It wasn't until college however when I realized that I actually have other skills that had never shown in my sport playing years. one thing i had developed playing sports was the ability to take coaching and criticism well, I learned from my mistakes and worked hard to ensure they wouldn't happen again. That has translated to my schooling and in the work place, and i've found a lot of success learning from the mistakes i make and from the teaching and criticism I receive from professors, mentors, managers and peers. Another skill I realized I had was my natural understanding of the field of Accounting. Accounting always scared me when I first entered the business school, but i quickly recognized that I have a knack for it and I actually quite enjoy learning about and doing accounting practices. Accounting is what i've decided to put my emphasis in, here in my time at Leeds. I love developing my skills as an accountant and i look forward to getting out in the working world and continuing the practice. I know with my hard work and my ability to learn well, I can become an exceptional accountant.
