As the Special Programs Coordinator I am responsible for several initiatives, both new and old. We are in the second year of a new program geared specifically for high school students called the YES (Young Environmental Science) Alliance, getting teens actively involved with conservation & stewardship while meeting experts in the field. Here we can shed some light on post-secondary options as well as career opportunities once they're out of school. The Junior Naturalists Club is nearing 60 years of programming, and I have been tasked with running the next several years for kids in elementary school. Spending as much time outdoors to rid children of that dang Nature Deficit Disorder by hiking, exploring, playing games and meeting people who share the same passion for this green earth. Team-building and Low Rope Initiatives is a program designed to bring out any team, of any age or stage to strengthen and harness their trust and communication skills. If you don't know what Low Ropes is, maybe it's time your team tries Low Ropes! Another initiative called the Fest-of-Ales is hosted by RBG- a craft beer festival held once a year to kick off the holiday season and introduce the community to local breweries and brew-masters. After-all, why not meet those responsible for turning botanicals into that sweet brown nectar that so many of us have come to love!? There are many other facets of this position that will help bring people closer to nature, while supporting an organization who strives for excellence and positive growth.
