As the lead communications professional for the Colorado Secretary of State's Office, I oversee all communication efforts across Elections, Business & Licensing, and Charities. Responsibilities include developing and executing communications and crisis management strategies, particularly for issues like disinformation, cyber threats, and high-profile lawsuits. I am the primary media contact and Public Information Officer for the Department. I proactively handle media relations, press conferences, and public messaging, as well as media preparation and scheduling for the Secretary of State. Additional duties include overseeing research projects and advertising campaigns in collaboration with external vendors, drafting speeches and talking points for executive staff, and working with Colorado's 64 County Clerks to ensure consistent statewide election messaging.

In this role, I supported the development of department communication strategies, streamlined content generation processes, and coordinated with external vendors on marketing and research projects. I acted as the secondary Public Information Officer. Key duties included managing the Department's social media presence and ensuring Department staff were aware of important developments in the democracy and business space.

As Director of Communications and Policy for Bicycle Colorado, I led efforts to advance bike-friendly policies, enhance bike access and safety statewide, and make Colorado a safer, more environmentally-friendly place for cyclists. I oversaw all internal and external communications, including media outreach, marketing, and DEI-focused campaigns promoting accessible bicycling. I also developed and piloted the Can Do Colorado eBike program, providing free electric bikes to low-income essential workers, and contributed to its broader rollout. Additionally, I built an extensive media portfolio, regularly speaking on the benefits of bicycling to journalists and the public.

As Senior Manager of Communications and Policy, I worked closely with legislators and policymakers on issues impacting cyclists statewide, advising on bike-friendly policies, reviewing roadway redesign projects, and educating the public on distracted driving and safety strategies.

As Communications and Policy Manager, I expanded my work with Bicycle Colorado to collaborate directly with local decision-makers on bike-friendly policies and led educational campaigns, including the Bicycle-Friendly Driver and Learn to Ride programs.

As Communications Manager, I handled all external communications for Bicycle Colorado, including digital newsletters, website, and social media, while also beginning to engage in policy advocacy for the organization.

At Kent Denver, I collaborated with the Director of Communications to ensure consistent brand messaging across all platforms. I developed social media strategies to boost engagement, wrote and edited content for the website, newsletters, and alumni magazine, and handled design work for various publications. I also managed a photo library of 30,000+ images, creating an organized system to support marketing efforts. In summer and fall 2016, I contributed to the redesign of the school's website, rewriting 130+ pages with SEO strategies to increase traffic. Additionally, I taught the "City Cycling" elective, focusing on bike maintenance and safe riding for middle schoolers.

As Communications and Marketing Fellow at Kent Denver, I wrote, edited, and designed weekly newsletters for parents, faculty, and staff. I photographed campus events and contributed to publications like the alumni magazine and handbooks. As the first official hire after the Director of Communications, I helped establish the new communications department.

Managed The Borgen Project's magazine and blog. Worked directly with team of nearly 70 writers and editors, managing volunteers from around the United States and beyond. Utilized AP Style, SEO best practices, and worked with writing from initial drafting to final publication. Increased readership of magazine and blog more than threefold in my time as CM.

Worked with a team of managers in the Capital Development Team to facilitate construction projects on campus. This entailed coordinating construction documents between the owners, architects and contractors of projects, including the previous construction of the William T. and Gail T. Weyerhaeuser Center for Health Sciences, the recently-finished Commencement Hall, and the ongoing renovations to Wheelock Student Center.

Logged data pertaining to construction projects on campus, and assisted managers who needed help with ongoing campus projects.

Worked directly with the University’s President, providing general office assistance including filing and answering phones, and assisting at the “Welcome Window,” greeting visitors and providing necessary assistance.

Met strict deadlines writing, researching and copy editing articles, blog posts, emails and press releases for 425 Magazine and South Sound magazine while following AP Style.

Oversaw and monitored all aspects of The Trail, the University's student newspaper. This included budgets, payment, scheduling, interviews, hiring, coordination, staff and social media management as well as final copy and layout. I directly managed a staff of 10 editors and managers, but employed and worked closely with a staff of 55 students, facilitating conversation between my editors, writers, interview subjects and interested parties. My job also involved working extensively with InDesign, Photoshop and WordPress.

Wrote articles for the News and Features sections of The Trail, interviewing subjects and meeting deadlines.

Held multiple editorial roles, including the features section for two semesters and the history section for one. I managed a staff of up to eight writers while making sure deadlines were met (as well as meeting them on my own), facilitating contact and working heavily with InDesign and WordPress.

Took and organized inventory of 1000s of different items and chemicals in the eScience Warehouse.

Wrote and copy edited for a nationally recognized weekly newspaper, creating and pitching article ideas as well as interviewing individuals for stories.
