Immediately after graduation I was recruited on to a research team comprising of established professors, post doctoral researchers and PhD students who focus their efforts on extragalactic research, as a part of the wider astronomy research group at the University of Sheffield. My efforts were focussed on using astronomy software tools to both quantitatively and qualitatively analyse morphological features of distant galaxies, with the aim of uncovering the intimate connection between galaxy evolution and their host super-massive black hole. This work further strengthened my skills in problem solving, data organisation and analysis, presenting results, and working in a wider team to specific deadlines. It will culminate in me being named as a co-author on a peer reviewed research paper published on a reputable astrophysics journal.
