Working under the master electrician of the theatre department, the electrics staff oversee the hanging, focusing, and circuiting of all shows for the Columbia College Chicago Theatre Department. The electrics department staff works in tandem with students to supervise and ensure that shows are hung and circuited safely and correctly. In addition to work on the main stage or “Courtyard Theatre,” we also staff various positions for other spaces in the building including board op and programmer positions when needed. The electrics staff are also required to maintain the departments lighting inventory, cable inventory, and required to work regularly in the electrics shop on various projects to support students varying lighting needs for their shows. I had previously served as the production director for the inaugural year in 2018 as well as serving as its creative director during its launch period.As the director of live event production, I oversaw the planning, staffing, and all aspects of onstage/behind the scenes production prior to and on the day of the UA Idea Day event.
