After recognizing the positive impact that Yorkey Dads' presence had on many men across York, we realized the need to extend this peer support to all men, not just dads. This led to the creation of Menfulness. We work with key partners across York to prevent male suicide and promote positive outcomes for men's mental health and support.Please note that this is a volunteer-driven initiative, so we appreciate your patience. My wife and I support young adults with learning difficulties to reach their full potential. We currently have 2 young men living with us in our family home. Challenging, fun and rewarding. If you don't like pokemon go and fifa 17 it's not for you!

We started out as a social hub for York Dads (Dad’s accessing dads support) granddads, carers or soon to be Dads. We connect Dads in and around the York area through meet ups, activities, events and online support. We represent a diverse group of dads: at home and working dads, married, single and divorced dads, straight and gay dads, young and old dads, dads of different ethnic and racial backgrounds. But share one common goal of being a active parent. The Joseph Rowntree Foundation Grant allows us to fund activities for dads who cant afford to pay for these important positive activities that build memories (trips to the coast, pantomime, cinema, meal out, camping etc). Children's Social Care and other partner agencies will refer dads/children who would most benefit (means tested). The most powerful part of Yorkey dads has been the peer support. Often the dads that a referred across from partner agencies are struggling, we have the ability to encourage and support these dads to make changes from friendship and trust. Facilitating The Parenting Puzzle Course across York.This nurturing programme runs for 10 weeks and programme builds on the skills parents already have and introduces lots of ways to improve family relationships and manage the behaviour of children of all ages, helping to improve parents' confidence.

Alongside my substantive role within CYC 'York Learning' I freelance as a Strengthening Families, Strengthening Communities (SFSC) Practioner. This is an inclusive evidence-based parenting programme, designed to promote protective factors which are associated with good parenting and better outcomes for children. The programe uses a strength based model to build or re-build relationships in the family, encourage children to work with parents not against them, improve parent knowledge of child develppment and its impact on behaviour and establish tools for becoming more involved with the community around them. It is aimed at parents of 5 - 13 year olds as this is the stage where children start the stage of questioning and pushing boundaries at home. The programmes are open to mums, dads and carers. There is combination of learning new strategies, the whole group sharing their ideas and experience and everyone practicing the techniques together.

Supporting the wonderful people of York to overcome 'barriers' to work•Provide tailored and professional learning and work advice, guidance and skills development opportunities using innovative methods to engage specific learner/client groups both at individual and group level, with the target of enabling progression to further learning and work opportunities in a results driven environment. •Design and deliver bespoke learning and skills development in group interactions for both internal and external service users and stakeholders to meet learning outcomes and project requirements.

Supporting families to ensure they understand their rights. Brokering childcare solutions where families may have difficulty accessing provision.Partnership development with York community groups, including outreach and training.Developing the Children & Young People's Plan, with consultation from marganalised young groups. Ensuring York's young people shape their priorities.

Working with York's unemployed Young Adults (18-24yr old) to educate, motivate and inspire them to move into the world of work.Classroom teaching if required, dependent on the learners barriers. Having to use all my creative teaching methods to show the ‘world of work’ is an exciting place.
