My PhD research was conducted within the Singapore-MIT Alliance for Research & Technology (SMART) BioSystems & Micromechanics team. We focused on the development of novel microfluidic technology and biomarkers for the identification and isolation of multipotent stem cells and functional osteoprogenitor cells for various clinical applications.     • Recipient of the prestigious NGS scholarship awarded to outstanding graduates with excellent academic and research potential• Awarded the Chua Toh Hua Memorial Gold Medal 2013/2014 for the Best Doctor of Philosophy graduate with the most outstanding research work done in life sciences• Led a team of 5 researchers in the design and development of microfluidic devices for human bone marrow stem cell isolation and for applications in bone and muscle tissue engineering in various in vivo mice models• Validated the design and operation of microfluidic devices used for cancer cell capture and diagnostics• Developed graphene and related materials as stem cell culture substrates for tissue engineering applications in enhancing bone regeneration and neuron differentiation• Research findings led to >10 peer-reviewed publications in 1st tier scientific journals and 2 patents applications (h-index 9)• Co-drafted 2 invention disclosures for technologies on stem cell isolation and cell cycle synchronization through the NUS Enterprise Industry Liaison Office• Presented in 6 international conferences and was awarded Best Student's Paper Award by the Advances in Microfluidics and Nanofluidics Conference 2011 and Best Presenter Award by the Singapore MIT Alliance for Research and Technology SAB 2012
