Considering the immense capital inflows of labour remittances to African countries in general, our analysis extends to the continent as a whole. We ask: why and how have some African states been successful in harnessing labor remittance flows for long-term investment and economic development, while others have failed? How have changing state institutions, capacities, political leadership and external influence in the international sphere affected different outcomes in our case studies?

As part of the KPP's Books database, I compiled written Middle East/North African-related knowledge and updated the Project's search capacities as a dynamic open-access archive. I made great strides in my online research and library navigation skills in this position, collecting lists of thousands of individual volumes and formatting them in research software such as Zotero. This position also demanded substantial Excel/Sheets skills for cataloguing.
