• Prosecuted misdemeanor cases for the Prince George’s County State’s Attorney’s Office District Court Division under Rule 19.• Worked with line prosecutors in the District Court Division and Firearm Enforcement Unit.• Managed 10 traffic dockets (eight as first chair) and five criminal dockets (two as first chair); reviewed any evidence, officers’ body-worn camera, and ensured discovery was provided to defense counsel.• During the proceedings, I checked in witnesses and defendants, discussed the merits of the cases with charging officers, and noted where charges should be entered nolle prosequi due to lack of essential witnesses or in traffic court where the defendant has successfully remedied the issues. • Collaborated with charging officers, defense counsel, and supervisors in discussions of the merits of a case.• Conveyed plea offers to defense counsel, moved to place matters on the Stet Docket and other diversion programs.• Argued three bench trials as first-chair: a first-degree assault case (resulted in a not guilty verdict), a D.W.I. case (resulted in a guilty verdict), and a malicious destruction of property case (resulted in a guilty verdict). • Successfully argued against a motion to suppress for a Circuit Court gun case, prepared to go forward to a jury trial, represented the state after the matter was diverted to settlement conference, and negotiated settlement terms.

Conducted legal research on sufficiency of plea colloquy, applicability of jury waivers, voluntariness of plea deals, ineffective assistance of counsel, and the right to allocution and drafted State’s response in opposition to post-conviction relief motion.Conducted research on exceptions to Maryland Wiretap Act and drafted legal memorandum analyzing application.Drafted legal memorandum setting forth conduct considered regarding a motion to modify sentencing.Drafted four Bills of Particulars, correspondence conveying plea offer, expert witness notification, motion in opposition to bond review, and sentencing recommendation for a child rape conviction.Observed trials and victim and witness interviews and took notes to support prosecutors.

Conducted research and analysis of discharge regulations for assisted living facilities. Attended and provided summaries of seminars from partner organizations. Drafted a legal memo analyzing a legal issue regarding construction and interpretation of statutory language.

Responsible for legal analysis, researched, drafted, and edited court orders on both civil and criminal matters. In addition, I synthesized multi-party criminal and civil pleadings, and case law, and observed civil hearings.

As a Vincentian Scholar (one of five selected from the university’s 2017 entering class), I was immersed in social justice teachings and servant leadership alongside community leaders in two internship placements. My service at these placements totaled over 300 hours of service over the course of my university career. The program instilled a duty to serve vulnerable populations in the spirit of St. Vincent DePaul.
