Responsible for overseeing the strategic direction, management, and overall success of the Salt Marsh Program. Help shape the vision and direction of the program by building partnerships, securing funding, and driving the achievement of programmatic goals while ensuring successful project and program execution. Lead a team of professionals collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to advance the program's mission and objectives.Serve on numerous committees in the state, region, and national levels, providing knowledge and information including working with stakeholders from various agencies and organizations to develop and implement the 2020 North Carolina Climate Risk Assessment and Resilience Plan and Natural and Working Lands Action Plan.Experienced Marine Biologist/Natural Resource Manager with a demonstrated history of working in the marine science, natural resource management, and aquaculture fields. Skills/Experience-Analyze and evaluate complex biological data to inform and make high level management decisions and communicate verbally and in writing to technical and non-technical stakeholders-Provide appropriate application of federal and state laws and regulations while managing day-to-day operational priorities and developing long-term programmatic planning -Planning and implementation of climate resilience and adaptation strategies-11 years of experience managing large scale scientific programs, supervising 100+ direct staff, and conducting 500+ interviews-Collaboration, cultivate a far-reaching network of partners to leverage resources, find opportunities for innovation, and build bridges internally/externally -Research project coordination through developing plans for activities, facilitating project work with multiple scientists, and providing expertise in marine science and conservation-Knowledge and experience managing and supervising scientific and non-scientific staff-Experience with endangered/protected species including species of sea turtles and sturgeon-Experience coordinating with other state and federal agencies on the ESA and MMPA-Experience with coastal environmental issues and concepts, principles, and methodology of marine biology-Experience with the principles and practices of marine biology, marine ecology, and fisheries management -Experience with biological data collection, fisheries science, and commercial and recreational fisheries-Knowledge and experience managing large scale marine aquaculture programs throughout the State
