I started my career working various positions in hotels and hospitality then moved into apartment maintenance in the multi-housing field. After learning a lot in those fields I wanted to challenge myself to move my career forward and get myself in a spot to start a family. I got my first computer when I was about 7 years old and have been enveloped in the digital world ever since. I had never pushed myself to try to gain a career in this field because I had been led to believe that it was simply too hard but as I began to learn what tools I needed to proceed, I realized I could overcome those hurdles and work in a field that excited me. I have come to love all aspects of networking cyber security and spend a lot of time on hackthebox.com both learning new skills and challenging myself. After I am more settled in my field I would like to become proficient at a few programming languages starting with python and eventually assembly language. I have seen the increase in hacks and compromises over the last several years and the spike in the need for professionals and It has driven me to get involved and do what I can to make a difference. I am at school with an excellent program called NexgenT Academy and will have my Security+ certification early this spring. I am looking to get a head start on the job search and find what I need to learn in order to secure that first networking or security position.
