On behalf of Councilmember Tommy Wells (Committee Chair), completed best practices examination of parks and recreation department administrative structures nationwide to influence future structural changes in the District. Helped draft legislation to establish a blue ribbon panel tasked with improving the management and use of parks in the District. Conducted legislative research into the statutory authority to regulate the District’s navigable waters to inform and improve outdoor water recreation. Conducted legal research on tort issues and fee-shifting statutes pertinent to the Assault of Bicyclists Prevention Act of 2011.

Handled a case load of more than 450 criminal cases related to fleeing & eluding, trespassing, disorderly conduct, 2nd degree assault, driving while intoxicated and theft.Led the prosecution of six criminal bench trials, three of which resulted in guilty verdicts.Sat second chair for human trafficking jury trial and led direct examination of police officer witness.Handled preparation for all trials and plea offers with background checks of defendants and interviews of police officers, witnesses and victims.

Represented low- income Washington, D.C. residents in housing related civil litigation.Conducted in-field legal investigations regarding client litigation.Litigated Criminal Activity Eviction from Public Housing which eventually lead to a favorable settlement agreement for client.

Assisted assistant state’s attorney with sentencing hearings, discovery, pretrial motions and witness trial preparation.Participated in four trials dealing with assault, burglary and domestic violence.Drafted legal research memorandum related to a defendant’s not criminally responsible (NCR) defense.

Presided over judicial hearings involving first-time, non-violent juvenile offenders, as part of a diversion program that provides an alternative to the traditional adjudicatory format in juvenile cases.Advised youth jurors throughout the deliberation process and moderated juror discussions to promote fair and reasonable sentences for youth respondents.

Served as one of three mortgage consultants at Midtown Mortgage Company, the preferred lender on seven residential condominium projects in the DC Metropolitan area.Advised more than 250 clients, including first time homebuyers and investors, on loan programs that best fit their financial conditions.Coordinated with Kettler sales agents at all condominium projects on the development and implementation of financing strategies, with the ultimate goal of increasing condominium sales.

Served as a member of a national trial counsel team for a major drug manufacturer. Managed and participated in large scale document reviews and productions for more than 50 pharmaceutical product liability cases.
