Rank of LTJG. As the US Coast Guard’s only officer Forward Deployed afloat in Naval Forces Japan served as Executive-Navigation Department Head aboard a Minesweeper of the 7th Fleet. Led 11 personnel in 3 program teams. With material and admin improvements, our department achieved a perfect score under a Congressional Board of Inspection and Survey. Supervised navigation. Aided planning/execution of international exercises and Mine Warfare sorties including Okinawa and Mutsu Bay and Sasebo Japan, as well as Busan South Korea for Operation Foal Eagle.Appointed as Command Legal Officer. Administered navigation and ship handling training for all bridge personnel.
