As a High Voltage Electrician, I am mainly responsible for the LV & HV Switchboard/gear testing and OEM maintenance. I am also responsible for the protection relay testing and the current transformer testing and maintenance. Moreover, I am to perform power distribution transformer testing and OEM maintenance to the site. Also, I provide and present risk assessments from Take 5’s to JHA’s. I am familiar with both Doble and Omicron hardware and software, and also with the sites ranging from Oil and gas plants (On/Off Shore) to surface and underground mines.

As an Electrician, I was mainly responsible for maintaining and running a power station and HV substation. I developed high voltage procedures and wrote Safe Working Procedures (SWP). Furthermore, I conducted daily maintenance checks on High Voltage Ring main including transformers, HV & LV switch gear, to add the fault finding of generation system. In this role, I quickly and safely restored power for when system would fail. I was also on call 24/7 for breakdowns and blackouts. In addition, I assisted with other electrical work on site including assistance to other contractors with wiring, installation, fault finding, changing out switch gear (circuit breakers and isolators etc) and provided HV isolations on the ring main. I also provided leadership by establishing clear expectations and demonstrating high standards of work practices, along with planning and coordinating the work flow to ensure smooth operation. Moreover, I delegated tasks to employees whilst supervising and overseeing their operations, and then monitored staff performance in the absence of the Managing Director.

As an Electrician, during my time with BHP Iron Ore Port Hedland, I worked on the change of light fittings, electrical maintenance on motors and the installation of lighting and GPO circuits. While on BPH Nickel West Kalgoorlie, I performed HV isolations and group isolations then worked with crews with its maintenance, fault finding and target meetings. I ensured to adhere to OH&S rules and regulations of the organization and complied to relevant legislatives during the time.

As an Electrician, I was performing faulting finding, servicing electrical equipment, cable runs and cable joints. I also serviced the mining equipment and performed breakdown and maintenance work including installation of jumbo boxes for underground equipment. I also maintained and repaired underground communication equipment, and underground cable runs, ensuring to adhere to the Occupational Health & Safety rules and regulations.
