My PhD research focuses on the modeling and multi-objective optimization of water systems, energy systems, and combined water/energy systems. I believe that through a systems engineering perspective, the interactions between water and energy systems can be better modeled and understood. The goal of my first undergraduate research project was to determine if the traditional design process for levees was insufficient for a changing climate. I conducted a comparison of probability and risk-based approaches for determining optimum levee design under stationary and nonstationary conditions.
