I have just begun a new career and am in training to learn UX Design at a human medical software company. It is exciting and I am enjoying all the knowledge and skills I am learning and will yet learn. Previously, I was a Veterinary Clinical assistant Professor at Oregon State University from 2007-2020. It was an amazing and fulfilling experience. I thoroughly enjoyed the multiple facets of the job: Teaching, Veterinary Medicine and surgery, and collaborative work with colleagues. Whether it was instruction in the classroom, or teaching on the go in the midst of running an ambulatory practice, helping students understand and reach their potential was very fulfilling. Prior to that employment, my undergraduate Animal Science degree prepared me well for that career. It provided wonderful experiences with all large animals from equine breeding management, sheep herd management, to an internship on a cow-calf operation in Wyoming. While I was buried deep in large animal experiences there, I continued to make opportunities to teach. Jobs there included a Teaching Assistant in the anatomy lab for pre-veterinary students, and teaching at the Missionary Training Center - teaching young men and women how to be teachers. It was also important to me to be involved in the community. Many volunteer hours were spent with the Boy Scouts of America, the Block and Bridle college club, and service with local religious affiliations. This desire to serve and teach stayed with me through veterinary college, though the rigors of that program did not allow near as much time for much else. As my career in Veterinary Medicine progressed, I not only developed a respectable reputation among students and peers statewide, but I also created cherished friendships.
