As a Fleet Engineering intern, I was able to learn about all the different parts of Aldridge. Whether it be getting my hands dirty in the Fleet shop by repairing and setting up vehicles or being in the office learning about project management, I learned valuable skills and have gained confidence in using tools (computational or physical), understanding project flows, and communicating with fellow Aldridge Employees and people from other companies we do business with.

In this position, I collaborated with a number of engineers who managed and improved the operational procedures of two SMT lines. Improving production flow required careful inventory management, being available for equipment maintenance and repair, finding new techniques to boost line efficiency, and providing assistance to our workers. I acquired a basic understanding of lockout/tagout processes, among other machine maintenance safety regulations, during my stay here. I used Excel to evaluate any collected data, and I discovered a lot of features that improved my general use of the program, like functions and macros. Using various tools and knowing how to use them for repair, assembly, and even disassembly were important things I gained a lot of expertise with. This encompassed anything from changing the motor on a conveyor for one of our lines to installing an injection molding machine. Additionally, I was able to use AutoCad to create floor plans and alter fixtures.Every day could be different in what is essentially an operations engineering role. As a result, I had to be adaptable and prepared to address any problem at hand either by myself or with others, depending on the circumstance.
