Fish Marker/ Hatchery Assistant
As a Fish Marker and Hatchery Assistant with the Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife, my days were filled with hands-on work and teamwork. Each morning, I prepared equipment for marking fish, ensuring everything was sterile and ready. Once the fish arrived, I carefully applied tags and marks to track their growth and movements, always prioritizing their health.I monitored water quality by checking oxygen levels and temperatures, cleaning tanks, and recording data to maintain optimal conditions. Occasionally, I assisted with spawning activities to support the next generation of fish.Every task I performed, from marking to maintaining facilities, was crucial for wildlife conservation. I felt a deep sense of pride knowing my efforts contributed to sustaining Oregon’s aquatic life and supporting local ecosystems. It was a rewarding experience that deepened my appreciation for fish and the environment.
