As often happens with arts graduates, my degree led me through the hospitality industry, where I was responsible for my pub’s social media content alongside managerial duties, before entering the role of a copywriter full-time. Writing, and creating content by extension, has been a passion I have pursued and worked towards since adolescence, the only torch I have carried longer being a love and obsession for all things gaming.In my time as a copywriter I have learnt how to quickly adapt to writing for a variety of channels and also across target customers, from writing email, social, and blog content that would be segmented across different trade and retail customers, to familiarising myself with platforms such as Podio and Monday.com for working practices, as well as striving to be on the forefront within the company when it comes to product knowledge and specifications. The last was a key part of my early development and continued success in the role, as I feel understanding and investment are critical to producing great product content.I have taken my skills in content and copywriting and married them to my two decades long love of gaming – as contributing writer for my university’s online paper and writing features for WhatCulture Gaming, as well as publishing to my personal blog with thoughts on what is going on in aspects of gaming as well as discussing the games I am currently playing. No matter the platform I am writing for I always strive to make my passion for the product clear, as I know that’s what I would respond to most as a gaming consumer myself.Outside of my working life and when not researching the games I write about, I’m often on walks with my partner and our dogs, or holed up with our latest LEGO project, or playing any number of the games we both love together and with our friends.
