We ensure solutions take advantage of standard configurable functionality available in our platforms (Salesforce, Optimizely, DynamicWeb & MS Dynamics Business Central), and that when we build beyond that, we focus on what makes Milestone unique. By doing that we deliver Enterprise Applications that are configured, built, and changed with agility in maintenance and stability in operation in mind.An important goal for my area is to enable scale and autonomy in other areas of Milestone. I’m therefore responsible for setting guardrails for Enterprise Applications and for helping colleagues outside IT implement these guardrails to ensure we have a sustainable operational model for all Enterprise Applications.

I’m heading up Business Application Development where we’re responsible for supporting, maintaining and developing all business systems in Milestone. This includes but is not limited to our ERP (Business Central), E-com platform (built on DynamicWeb), CRM (Salesforce) website (milestonesys.com - built on Optimizely), Business Intelligence (Azure SQL and Azure Data Factory) and Integrations (Azure services).Our purpose is to ensure that • Application delivery capacity can scale and flexibly extend and reduce. • Application are built and changed with maintenance and operation in mind.• Applications and processes around changing them are continuously refined and optimizedTo do so we’re taking responsibility for the fully lifecycle of the solutions we support, from solution design, implementation and delivery, re-engineering, refactoring and maintenance, to support and decommissioning of obsolete applications and systems.Like Milestone we’re constantly evolving, taking in new responsibilities and optimizing the way we’re working.

I head up development and application management of the business support systems in Milestone. Since starting at Milestone Systems I've been designing and growing the internal IT development organisation from 7 to 20+ people while introducing new ways of working. Today we're working in 4 teams focusing on individual areas (B2B/ERP, Salesforce, External Digital Presence, and Intelligence, Integration & Identity), using agile techniques based on Scrum.

In this position I'm working to ensure that Novozymes IT can continue to navigate and execute in a world that is increasingly dependent on digital services and solutions, and where the opportunities are rapidly changing and evolving.The position delivers on the following main areas:• Evaluated and assess emerging technologies to ensure a fundamental readiness in Novozymes for what the impact of these will be on both a technical, organizational and business level.• Provide advice and guidance for stakeholders in Novozymes for how and where to implement, operate, manage and maintain services, like Robotics, Big Data and cloud-based operation in AWS and Azure• Define and develop new ways of working, both internally in IT, with stakeholders in the rest of Novozymes, and using partners to improve delivery times and quality.

As part of a refocusing on customers and growth we're using Architecture to take control of the technology landscape by ensuring new investments in IT generate business value, and to create transparency and overview of actions and cost involved in keeping the existing system landscape healthy and avoid operational surprises.Our focus is to locate and provide the platforms needed to drive digitalization and enable growth, and ensure that the overall system landscape is created with security in mind (security ingrained).

In this position I've led Novozymes into a new world of enterprise social tool adoption and collaboration. The purpose is to create an environment where all Novozymes employees can easily find relevant colleagues and information, collaborate, make social virtual interactions and turn information and thoughts into knowledge.We have done this by building on top of a new SharePoint 2013 based platform where communication, collaboration and social interaction has been built in from the beginning, and we've redesigned and implemented most of the central knowledge management systems to better support sharing and creating knowledge in Novozymes. Finally we've been implementing ways to share en engage with external partners using Office 365 as a platform.

As Head of Architecture, I have been part of the IT leadership team, leading a group of architects that cover the domains and technologies used for business systems in Novozymes.I take a very practical approach to the discipline of architecture - it is important to see architecture as a skill rather than an art form, and finding the correct balance between concrete and abstract deliverables is crucial. Delivering useful things to the rest of the IT department and to the rest of Novozymes is what it is all about.Examples of that mindset is that the concepts of "Readiness/Staying current" and "Keeping out of technical debt" are now established shared goals (to the point where it is recognized throughout Novozymes that these are critical fundamentals).Main achievements in this period has been a general heightening of competences within architecture, and helping drive a much more security conscious culture when designing and implementing systems. On top of this I’ve been a driving force behind two major innovations in IT usage in Novozymes:• A transition from a slightly worn-down SAP system landscape to a completely new HANA based (Business Suite and BW on HANA) landscape, where we transitioned 9 SAP systems in 12 months (7 in 8 months).• A new take on the use of SharePoint in Novozymes with an on premise based but cloud-ready intranet and collaboration platform to replace an ageing SharePoint 2007 landscape.At the same time I've worked with employee satisfaction and motivation and achieved significant improvements in there areas

As department manager for all development out of corporate HQ, I've managed developers within a great breadth of technologies and solutions - including SAP R/3, SAP BW, Microsoft BI, Biztalk, Web applications and Sharepoint. My focus has been on people management and people development, making sure we have the right competences to execute on the continuous development of application and system. This has resulted in significant improvements in employee satisfaction and motivation.Also highly prioritized is ensuring that the development cycles (sprints) are succeeding in providing business value through increasingly cross technological solutions. Making sure that work is coordinated with our demand, architecture and operations areas was also among my key responsibilites, and as a result our productivity was much improved.

In this position I was responsible for the maintenance and development of web based solutions (SharePoint and ASP.NET typically) at Novozymes, the integration infrastructure (SSIS, BizTalk, XI) and the integrations using this infrastructure, for support for users of the sharepoint based intranet, as well as for providing guidance for projects (quality standards, gatekeeping and change management).During this period I contributed to the expansion of the Novozymes offshore team in Bangalore to include Microsoft based technologies.

As team lead I was responsible for the overall task management and ressource allocation for the team of solution architects in the Microsoft technology area, as well as working as solution architect at the same time.I was also responsible for the first initiatives in including developers from the Novozymes offshore team in Bangalore in development on Microsoft technologies.

As solution architects we have a number of functions we fulfill. We work closely with the line of business to scope and architect ‘state of the art’ solutions that utilize the basic platforms in Novozymes as much as possible, minimizing the amount of customization requiring code, but ensuring that the solution still meets the needs of the business. We develop customizations to SharePoint that requires coding, as well as set and enforce quality standards for custom applications using the.NET framework and SharePoint.We also assist the business with IT knowledge regarding strategic choice of technologies, cost efficient implementation, change management, training and Information architectureFinally we also maintain existing applications based on the .NET framework using C# and SQL server

As program manager for Rambøll Informatiks healthcare products I was responsible for the production 'machine' for the various products Rambøll Informatik offered in the healthcare market. This meant making sure that the production capacity was sufficient, that enough developers, testers, service desk and support employees were available, and that the methods and processes were efficient and relevant.

As competence manager I worked with the maturity levels in Rambøll Informatik (CMMI, ITST/SK), competence and technology strategies and process improvements. A part of this was the introduction of Agile methods in software development and appropriate tool support for this (Microsoft TFS).As a consultant I worked with standardization of integration architectures and implementation, system architecture, teams management and presales/sales preparation.

At Digiquant (later a part of Intec, and now VoluBill) I worked on development of on of the central products in the product portfolio - the Rating Engine. Gradually I took over the responsibility for this component and did quite a lot of work on performance and functionality improvements, A highlight was when we succesfully completed a benchmark where we rated (that is calculate the price for) more than 13000 Voice over IP calls every second for hours at a time.Technologywise we were using C++ (including quite advanced use of STL), CORBA (this was before Web Services caught on), Java - and the ever-present Oracle RDBMS.

During my (first) time at Rambøll Informatik I started out doing systems development, then started doing technical project management (architecting) for a number of projects ending with at 25 people project that brought me from Tampere in Finland to Sydney in Australia. Technologywise my focus was on Oracle (mainly PL/SQL and Developer), and I ended up getting myself certified as an Oracle DBA (version 7.3 - this was long ago :-)).
