Jacob is a proud Kamilaroi man who has the privilege of working on Bundjalung Country (Tweed Heads). He first joined Red Cross as a Telecross and Emergency Services Volunteer whilst completing high school. It is through volunteering that he developed a deep appreciation and admiration of the power of Red Cross and the role of volunteers and members. Jacob has extensive experience in strategic operations, organisational change, service design, project management and community development, across a range of sectors including local government, disaster recovery, mining, not-for-profit and major events. Since re-joining Red Cross in 2014, Jacob has held a number of regional, state and national positions focused on strategic operations, analytics, planning, organisational change, and service design. In his current role of Head of Community Programs and Cross-Directorate Functions, Jacob leads a team responsible for child and adult safeguarding, community programs (inclusive of Red Cross’ work in community programs, aged care, justice, disability and community care), strategic projects and client case management systems. Jacob is passionate about social justice, the power of volunteering, diversity and inclusion. He characterises himself as being highly analytical, solution-focused and innovative.
