While with InfoSys, I worked on two separate projects as a contractor. The first project was from April 2019 to June 2019, and I worked on a Microsoft website to help those with subscriptions to Microsoft services manage their subscription. This work involved adding new functionality to the front-end of the website built on an Angular framework using TypeScript. My time on the project was short-lived due to restructuring on the Microsoft side and as one of the newer additions to the team, I was easy to help trim the budget.My second project was from August 2019 to April 2020, and was once again contracted work with Microsoft. This time I worked on internally used programs related to human transcription services. The bulk of the work involved writing and managing C# code but also detailed tracking of transcription progress. Most of the work involved scripts meant to take the raw data from recorded sessions, filtering the data, and preparing it for transcription.

This job was part of a Revature training program intended to fast-track programming skills onto college graduates with the intent that they will work for Revature or another company when they complete the program. I learned JavaScript and C# programming, and many tools associated with those, such as NodeJS, Angular, TypeScript, .NET Core, and other aspects of the .NET family. My training involved lectures as well as testing and larger projects including collaborative work. At the conclusion of my training Revature organized an interview with InfoSys who then agreed to take me on as Software Engineer based on my experience and knowledge from this program.

I learned and worked with Rappture, a toolkit designed for quickly and easily turning scientific code into a visual interface. The bulk of my work was in the effort of rewriting and re-purposing code original written by my professor for nuclear physics computational work, and by the end of the summer I had converted about 10 smaller programs into two programs with a graphical interface, sprucing up the code itself as well and combining it to eliminate unneeded overlap between all of the programs. Through this work I gained a working knowledge of C++ and used XML to create the GUI for the programs.

I planned and held supplemental instruction sessions for small groups of students that attended Tri-County Technical College twice a week. These sessions were designed to encourage teamwork and group learning. Additional meetings between other supplemental instruction leaders and other staff encouraged interpersonal skills as well as designing session plans and teaching skills.
