We are creating a new standard label -- proposing a QR code, but agnostic, that would be printed directly on products to optimize reverse logistics processes: repair, return or recycle. The new label would contain warranty and support information and facilitate geo-tagging for recycling and proper disposal. For example, on a medicine bottle it could point to a place to take unused pills rather than the toilet. For e-waste it could identify hazardous materials. We are working with other organizations to make this a global standard.

The result was the creation of the PCMCIA and the standard adopted was consistent with Fujitus' expectations. My contribution was the recruitment of the charter members.
