In this role, I acted in two capacities. First, I served as IJM's Senior Technical Advisor on transnational crime, our primary global subject-matter expert and external spokesperson on the issue. In this capacity, I designed and spearheaded IJM’s global strategy in response to the epidemic of forced/coerced criminality arising from governance failure in various countries across our global program portfolio. Second, I served as Regional Director, Advocacy and Partnerships within our Asia-Pacific forced labor hub. The increasing sophistication, state-embeddedness, and transnational nature of criminal exploitation against the vulnerable in this region is pressing urgency into a long felt need for greater integration of our regional advocacy, media/comms, grants, and implementing partnerships work -- across all case types. In this capacity, I guided our team of brilliant regional advisors who capably support our country offices in these functions. Together, we worked to take our counter labor trafficking work to the next level through the cultivation of innovative partnerships with key international orgs; regulators, watchdogs, private sector corporations, and civil society actors.

In this role, I led IJM Cambodia's talented team of lawyers, social workers, investigators, programmatic and operational staff in the fight against domestic and cross-border labour trafficking in collaboration with government, IO, and NGO partners.My role included:- Setting vision and strategic direction for IJM's work in Cambodia- Leading all significant IJM Cambodia programs, operations, and interventions- Collaborating with key government officials in Cambodia and the region to set direction, develop strategies, and formulate policies to address labour trafficking (both domestic and cross-border)- Directing all operational units -- HR, IT, Security, Facilities, Admin, Finance, Budgeting, etc. - Overseeing comprehensive capacity-building programmes for Cambodian government agencies- Designing and overseeing all M&E, research, and learning activities for IJM's programme delivery- Managing and mentoring IJM Cambodia's approximately 40 staff and expatriate fellows

At AidData, I led an innovative team that helped policymakers and key decision makers translate cutting-edge research and ideas into action to improve the impact of international development efforts across the Global South. My team was funded by a combination of grants, contracts, and core funding from USAID, The World Bank, US Department of State, The Hewlett Foundation, The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, and The College of William & Mary.

Led day to day, operation of GHM partnerships and programs. These tasks included:~ Management of Business Development, Marketing, and Finance teams~ Design, monitoring, and evaluation of field-based programs~ Envisioning of strategic, organizational direction ~ Management of budgeting and financial forecasting systems and processes~ Engagement of partners in our work, showing how their financial partnership can change communities. GHI began as a response to the needs of the community in Busia, Uganda. This small town in eastern Uganda lacks widespread access to quality education, and is home to one of the country’s most serious orphan crises as a result of the AIDS epidemic. Through our school-orphanage campuses GHI meets the needs of impoverished communities through provision of: 1) high quality schools for children in the community; 2) shelter, nutrition, and a nurturing environment for local orphans; and 3) economic empowerment opportunities for impoverished families in the community.

For Partners, I led monitoring and evaluation for programs involving provision of services to internally displaced people. Additionally, I led training courses for relief teams – instructed classes on human rights reporting, and field leadership. I also assisted a Harvard Human Rights Clinic Global Justice Fellow who was leading legal research investigating armed conflict in Northern Myanmar. For both organizations, I liaised with local NGOs and government agencies to enhance cross border mission effectiveness.
