CurrentOffice of the Superintendent for Community School District 14, NYC Public SchoolsAs the Superintendent’s designee and district lead for student attendance and engagement, I lead an integral part of the district portfolio during post-pandemic school operations when the impact of COVID dramatically affected the academic, social, and emotional well-being and success of students across the country and our system experienced a decrease in enrollment, low daily student attendance, and high chronic absenteeism. As the incumbent, my team’s efforts counteracted the affects of COVID and its aftermath, which resulted in increased attendance and reduced chronic absenteeism districtwide by:+ Leading 26 community schools with the effective implementation of strategies to improve attendance, reduce chronic absenteeism, and increase student engagement. + Designing and facilitating professional learning communities to build capacity among all stakeholders to implement attendance and engagement action plans effectively.+ Creating opportunities for strategic partnerships to incentivize attendance, celebrate positive outcomes, and a growth mindset.+ Collaborating with district leads to spearhead initiatives to support the social, emotional, and academic development of subgroups: Black Males, Students in Temporary Housing, Foster Care, Special Education, and Asylum/Migrant Students.+ Branding attendance as an essential factor in student engagement and achievement to enhance school climate and culture, develop culturally responsive pedagogy, and support student development.+ Mastering social media branding and marketing, enhanced by AI, to tell our story and shape and disseminate the narrative of a community school district focused on cultivating the brilliance and excellence of every child.
