Jacque Caprio Young, Ph.D. uses her scientific knowledge to advance protection of clients’ intellectual property. Jacque prepares and prosecutes national and international patent applications. She brings more than 20 years of research experience in academia and biotechnology, including a background in microbiology, immunology, proteomics and genomics, to her role.Jacque’s practical experience, gained through her work at a large private university’s technology commercialization office, includes evaluating office actions from the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, reviewing examiner-cited prior art, preparing patent specifications and claims, and generating responses to USPTO examiners.With three degrees from the University of Tennessee – a bachelor’s in biology, a master’s in microbiology with a focus on immunology, and a doctorate in genome science and technology – Jacque has a deep knowledge of the scientific underpinnings of the intellectual property that clients in the life sciences industry want to protect. She also understands issues that arise in laboratories from her research, which includes a postdoctoral research fellowship at the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine, where she performed research on the human microbiome. Jacque authored 21 peer reviewed publications during her academic research career and also has industry experience having worked as a microbiologist for a biotechnology startup company.
