My professional ambition is to become a Marine Biologist. From the moment I could walk, I have been fascinated with the ocean, the beach and marine ecology. Growing up on the coast with a biologist for a grandmother and marine biologist for a grandfather, I had the incredible fortune of learning about marine science first hand. Becoming a marine biologist will not only allow me to pursue my academic interests, but it will also give me the tools and platform to create awareness and change in regards to marine conservation. In addition to Marine Biology, I am also passionate about studio art, particularly sketching and painting. This year I have found a way to combine these two loves in AP Studio Art. My sustained investigation focuses on how can seashells play a multitude of roles within nature and for humans, and how, along with the organisms living in them, shells are affected by plastic pollution and global warming. The goal of my art will be to educate people on the importance seashells play in the world and our lives, how seashells are physically impacted by human behavior, and how much will be lost if such man-made catastrophes like global warming are allowed to continue. I participated in a number of dramatic and comedic plays and musicals in high school! I am a vocalist and had the extraordinary opportunity to perform at Carnegie Hall in February 2024.Outside of school I love spending time on the beach, SCUBA diving, paddle boarding, creating art and spending quality time with my family and friends.
