I started my health and wellness journey 25 years ago at a YMCA in Washington State. My group fitness instructor encouraged me to pursue a career in Health and Wellness. My journey began, I have held various positions within the YMCA’s organization. My group fitness instructor encouraged me to pursue a career in Health and Wellness. I decided to give it a try. He gave me the best career advice because I love helping individuals set and reach their goals. I have held various positions within the YMCA’s organization. As a Fitquest Coach, I assisted members with weight training equipment and safe practices for a few months. When the opportunity presented for personal trainer and group fitness instructor, I was all in. Watching members transform their lives and grow in their knowledge of wellness has been the most rewarding.My commitment for others to have a healthy lifestyle has help me with facilitating several 12-week weight loss programs. I enjoy training diverse populations and appreciate their unique situations. The beauty of it is we all come together for one purpose but realize, we have more in common that just losing weight. As a Health Educator, I am more involved with members connecting with them daily through face to face, phone calls or via email. We often discussed barriers as well as ways to overcome those barriers. There are many sensitive issues that members experience most had shared those with me. I appreciate that we can build strong relationships and share in a private space while feeling safe. My passion is helping others overcome barriers taking one small step at a time.
