Indulging in the field of counseling has been a valuable asset to me in navigating my career plans and goals. My education provided me the opportunity to gain insight on the major theories in the categories of physical, cognitive, and social development. With this knowledge, I'm able to enhance individual’s emotional and cognitive development and recognize when individuals is fixated in a developmental stage caused by medical disorders or other emotional/mental disorders. Because of my work experiences, I gained skills and techniques necessary to provide a holistic approach of treatment to individuals in a diverse culture and learned to be sensitive to individual’s values and beliefs. My future goals is to open my own practice assisting at risk youths overcome adversities and learn to live a balanced and productive life.
